The UN General Assembly adopted the Sustainable Development Goals in 2015, the date of their achievement is set by 2030. These goals include 17 interrelated goals, which are part of the UN resolution entitled “Agenda 2030”. The goals are based on 4 main pillars: Environment, Social Development, Economic Development and partnerships. In this context, the UAE is keen to consciously look to the future and its requirements, and seeks to strengthen international cooperation and partnership to become a global capital for the sustainable future industry, within the framework of the March of readiness for the next fifty years, in a way that achieves the goals of the UAE Centennial 2071.
The UAE has included the Sustainable Development Goals at the core of its vision and future ambitions, committed to “leaving no one behind”, and developed a comprehensive action plan to ensure alignment of these goals with national development priorities.it has also been keen to launch pioneering initiatives and solutions based on innovation and foresight of the future, and to study future challenges and trends, to enhance levels of flexibility and readiness in future sectors, especially those related to human life, and ensure a more sustainable future for future generations.
Over the past years, the country has succeeded in achieving record results in sustainability indicators, which has made it a leading position in which major countries compete for the first positions in many areas closely related to the process of sustainable development, such as eradicating poverty and hunger, improving education and health, providing healthy water, saving energy and preserving the environment. Under the slogan” today for tomorrow”, the UAE has dedicated 2023 to be the year of sustainability, based on its global responsibility, as much as it is based on a rich Emirati heritage that understands the importance of sustainability and applies it in various fields of life.
