Data from the industry group “Unica” showed that sugar production in central and southern Brazil increased by 8.54% in the first half of September compared to the previous year, reaching a total of 3.12 million metric tons.
The group stated that 41.76 million tons of sugarcane were crushed during this period, an increase of 5.35% over last year.
According to the forecasts of the consulting company “job Economia”, sugar production in Brazil is expected to record a record level in the 2023/2024 season, as production is expected to reach 42.7 million metric tons.
“Job Economia” attributed its optimistic forecast for production, which is up from the 37 million tons recorded in the previous season, to the favorable weather for crop growth and processing.
