Bolivia’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) grew by 2.5% in the first quarter of 2023 due to domestic demand, the Minister of Planning, Sergio Cusicanqui, said at a press conference.
“Bolivia remains on the path of growth driven, fundamentally, by domestic demand that mobilized more than 10% of the economy,” Cusicanqui said.
Transport and storage logistics services (4.1%), electricity, gas, and water consumption (3.9%), construction (3.5%), financial establishments (3.3%), as well as services in general (5.3%), are among the sectors with positive indicators.
These data reveal that the Bolivian economy grew from 41,193 million dollars to more than 44,000 million dollars between 2019 and 2022, according to data presented by the Minister.
“This growth occurs in an adverse international context, characterized by the fall in economic growth and a scenario of high inflation in much of the world, while Bolivia maintains average growth and low inflation,” Cusicanqui said.
The annual rate of variation of the Consumer Price Index (CPI) of Bolivia was 2.7% in July and 1.2% accumulated so far this year, according to the official report of the National Institute of Statistics (INE).
