The president of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, announced that he will invite the countries of the BRICS group (Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa) to invest and produce food in the market of this Latin American country.
“I am going to invite the BRICS countries to come and invest in the countryside of Venezuela, to produce food in Venezuela jointly as BRICS, to the BRICS bank, and to the businessmen of the BRICS countries who come to produce with us,” Maduro said during a speech broadcast through the state channel Venezolana de Televisión.
The Venezuelan president’s statement is given in the context of the realization of the XV Summit of the BRICS, a bloc into which Caracas seeks to be integrated.
The Venezuelan president indicated that his government will propose to the BRICS investment in a new productive special economic zone in the countryside with more than five million hectares.
In addition, he thanked the BRICS countries for inviting Venezuela to participate in the summit, which is taking place in Johannesburg.
