The head of the International Monetary Fund, Kristalina gurdjieva, said that she still expects the world economy to grow weakly, according to the”DPA”.
During a speech in the Ivorian city of Abidjan, Georgieva stressed that “the world economy has shown remarkable resilience”.
But, despite the strong demand for services and progress in the fight against high consumer prices, the global growth rate remained weak. It was much lower than 3.8 percent – the annual average since 2000 and even just before the coronavirus pandemic “coronavirus”.
It is noteworthy that the” International Monetary Fund ” last July issued growth forecasts of 3 percent for both 2023 and 2024. Last year, the global economy grew by 3.5 percent.
Gurdjieva explained that the world has lost about 3.7 trillion dollars of economic output since 2020 due to “successive shocks,” referring to the pandemic and the Russian invasion of Ukraine. The losses were very unevenly distributed, and the poorest countries were the most affected.
The “International Monetary Fund” will present its new economic forecasts, next Tuesday, during its annual meeting in Marrakech, Morocco. “The fight against high inflation remains a priority,”gurdjieva said.
