Dubai welcomed 3.71 million international tourists at the peak of summer 2023Dubai received more than 3.71 million international tourists at the peak of the summer of this year, during the period between June and August, compared to 2.95 million visitors during the same period last year, with a growth rate of 25.7%, and an average of 1.23 million visitors per month, according to the latest data of the Department of economy and tourism in Dubai.
According to the data obtained by “Emirates today”, Dubai has not only strengthened its position as a summer destination compared to last year’s levels, but the number of visitors at the peak of the summer of this year exceeded the levels recorded in 2019, before the covid-19 pandemic, as the total number of visitors then reached 3.69 million visitors between June and August.
Dubai has strengthened its position as a summer destination, with additional gains of an additional 760 thousand tourists at the peak of this summer, compared to last year’s levels, and the emirate continued to record strong performance rates in tourist flow levels at the beginning of this year.
Dubai received 1.16 million visitors during June this year, rising to 1.28 million visitors in July, and more than 1.27 million visitors in August, and the average daily international tourist traffic reached more than 40.3 thousand international tourists daily.
According to the data, during the summer of this year, Dubai continued to record strong rates in the total number of visitors compared to last year’s levels, at a time when it exceeded all indicators, namely: the number of international tourists, the number of hotel rooms, nights booked, the average daily rate, as well as the average return per room, to pre – “pandemic”levels.
It is noteworthy that the latest data of the Department of economy and tourism in Dubai on the performance of the tourism sector and the numbers of international visitors during the first eight months of this year, showed Dubai’s success in attracting 11.1 million international visitors between January and August 2023, compared to 9.12 million international visitors received by the city in the same period last year, an increase of more than 21.7%, compared to 10.85 million visitors in the same period of 2019, i.e. before the levels of the “covid-19” pandemic, with a growth rate of about 2.3%.
In addition, the number of hotel rooms in Dubai by the end of August 2023 amounted to 148.5 thousand hotel rooms within 814 hotel facilities, compared to 142.2 thousand hotel rooms within 779 facilities at the end of August 2022.
