A delegation from the Egyptian medical and pharmaceutical industries Export Council met with the minister of foreign affairs of Venezuela and his accompanying delegation at a meeting organized at the embassy of Venezuela in Cairo to discuss the export of medicines from Egypt to Venezuela to fill the shortage of medicines in “Caracas” and cooperation in the export of medicines, medical supplies, body care products and cosmetics.
Dr. Maged George, chairman of the Egyptian Export Council, said that the meeting discussed a number of key points, most notably the clearing work for the export of Egyptian medicines to Venezuela in exchange for importing oil from there as part of efforts to ease the pressure on the hard currency in Egypt.
George pointed out that the export of Egyptian medicine in exchange for the import of oil from Venezuela was coordinated with him and consultations with the Egyptian Ministry of Petroleum, pointing out that the value of the upcoming deal will reach 300 million dollars will contribute to increasing medicine exports and provide part of the oil needs in Egypt.
Dr. Majed George stressed the continued efforts of the Export Council for medical and pharmaceutical industries to increase exports to all markets under the council’s plan to maximize exports and increase them by 20 to 30% annually, despite the circumstances and challenges.
