Jensen Huang, CEO of Nvidia, said that the United States needs about 20 years to end dependence on chips imported from abroad.
In his remarks at the delbook conference organized by the New York Times in New York, Huang explained his company’s reliance on a large number of components that come from different parts of the world, not only from Taiwan, which is witnessing the manufacture of the most important elements.
“We still have a decade or two to achieve independence from the supply chain, “he added.
Forecasts indicate that there is a long way to go to achieve the main goal set by the administration of US President Biden-to increase the manufacture of chips within America.
The head of the company defended the bipartisan-backed legislation to support the construction of manufacturing facilities locally, noting that many of the largest companies plan to expand their operations in the United States, these companies include both “Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing”, the first manufacturing partner of”Nvidia”, as well as “Samsung Electronics” and”Intel”.
