Roh Tae-Moon, head of Samsung’s mobile phone division, emphasized that the company is committed to bringing Galaxy AI to one hundred million Galaxy mobile devices worldwide this year.
Earlier this month, the South Korean giant unveiled the Galaxy S24 series, which is equipped with the Galaxy AI brand’s AI-powered service, known as the Generative Artificial Intelligence, supported by Google Cloud.
Samsung indicated that Galaxy AI will be coming to flagship models in the first half of 2024, including the Galaxy S23 series, Galaxy S23 FE, Galaxy Z Fold 5, Galaxy Z Flip 5, and Galaxy Tab S9 series.
Galaxy AI is expected to be included in the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6 phones, and these devices together may help Samsung achieve its goal of reaching a hundred million devices that feature Galaxy AI.
Moon explained that the benefits of generative artificial intelligence will remain free to use until 2025, regardless of the significant resources invested in the development of Galaxy AI. However, the brand has not yet decided what will happen to the free benefits in the future, and the company has more than a year to make that decision.
The company has not yet made any decisions regarding the financial future of the Galaxy AI Generative Intelligence service after 2025, although Moon hinted at plans to provide powerful artificial intelligence benefits in the future for paying subscribers.
According to our analysis, Mon said: “There are different needs for mobile artificial intelligence. There are consumers who are satisfied with using AI capabilities for free, and there are customers who want powerful AI capabilities and are willing to pay for them. Therefore, we take all these factors into account when making future decisions.”
He added, “There was negative growth last year when looking at the global market for smartphones, although the leading and premium categories remained largely unchanged, and we believe that there will be rapid growth this year from the leading and premium categories compared to the overall market average.”
Mon explained that Samsung intends to produce laptops in India to meet the needs of the local market. Currently, the South Korean giant manufactures laptops in China and Vietnam.
