A study conducted by the Brazilian Micro and Small Business Support Service (Sebrae) revealed that smaller businesses were responsible for generating 80% of the jobs created in 2023.
According to the data, small businesses created the majority of new jobs last year, accounting for 1.18 million out of 1.48 million total openings, which is equivalent to 80.1 percent.
Medium and large companies, on the other hand, were responsible for generating 209,990 new positions, making up 14.2 percent of the total.
For the third year in a row, micro and small companies in Brazil have been the main source of new jobs.
In 2023, the services sector was the leading contributor, creating 631,000 new jobs. Medium and large companies combined only added 181,870 new positions.
