A delegation from the Argentine Ministry of Economy traveled to Washington to finalize details of payments related to the $44 billion International Monetary Fund (IMF) loan, according to “Reuters.”
“The delegation includes Deputy Economy Minister Gabriel Rubinstein and Senior Adviser Leonardo Madcor,” a spokesman for the Argentine government said.
The International Monetary Fund (IMF) confirmed through a spokesperson that the meeting is taking place, adding that teams have begun face-to-face technical meetings this afternoon in Washington to advance the fifth review of the fund-supported program.
Argentina is seeking to change the economic goals it agreed upon with the International Monetary Fund and to provide some of the International Monetary Fund’s payments scheduled for this year, as Argentina is facing an acute financial crisis that may be exacerbated by a lack of international reserves.
