Apple has announced that it will be the first and largest customer of the two-billion-dollar chip packaging plant, which is being built by Amcor technology, in the US state of Arizona”.
The partnership supports the efforts of the major technology company to manufacture more of its products in the United States, amid geopolitical tensions and supply chain disruptions.
With its new facility, Amcor, which provides semiconductor packaging and Testing Services, said it was enabling a “more flexible” U.S. semiconductor supply chain.
The new facility in the city of Peoria, Arizona, which is expected to employ about two thousand people, when completed, will process Apple chips, which are produced, at the nearby Taiwanese semiconductor manufacturing company O. T. “s.S. s.Em.SI”, where the company “Apple” is considered the largest customer.
When completed, the new facility will be the largest advanced, outsourced bottling facility in America.
