Argentina’s Minister of Economy, Sergio Massa, decided to grant 7,428 small and medium enterprises (SMEs) access to all the SIRAs (System of Imports of the Argentine Republic), which will be able to buy industrial inputs abroad for 700 million dollars.
“Sergio Massa announced that he will release the Import System of the Argentine Republic,” the electoral coalition Union for the Fatherland said, referring to the economy minister and candidate of the ruling party for the presidency.
Small and medium-sized enterprises will be able to import intermediate goods for production for 745 million dollars and will also provide the entry of parts and spare parts for 175 million dollars and 68 million dollars for consumer goods.
Since the SIRA system began in October 2022, 21,671 small and medium-sized enterprises have been able to import industrial inputs for 6,921.3 million dollars.
“The decision was adopted to guarantee the employment of our small and medium-sized enterprises and continue exporting Argentine labor to the world,” Massa said.
39% of imported inputs, worth $2.716 billion, were intermediate goods; another 29%, equivalent to $2.03 billion, were capital goods; and an additional 18%, covering $1.224 billion, were consumer goods.
