The government of President Javier Milei has made the decision to delay the discussion of its significant “Omnibus Law” legislation in the lower house until the following Tuesday.
Multiple news outlets were informed by government sources on Wednesday that the vote on the crucial bill will be postponed until the following week.
It was anticipated that the La Libertad Avanza government would initiate a discussion in Congress, which was scheduled to commence on Thursday.
Members of the general, budget, and constitutional committees have gone through the bill at the committee stage, resulting in it receiving majority approval in the wee hours of Wednesday morning.
The political groups La Libertad Avanza, PRO, UCR, and Hacemos Coalición Federal came to an agreement and signed a majority opinion. Out of the 55 members who voted, 34 disagreed. Additionally, four minority opinions were recorded, with one of them having 45 signatures from the Unión por la Patria Peronist bloc.
Libertarian Lower House Speaker Martin Menem has reportedly asked for a postponement in the discussion at the congress, as reported by Noticias Argentinas news agency.

In the discussion of the bill in the committee stage, Germán Martínez, the leader of the Uni&oacte;n por la Patria group, stated that his party will oppose the legislation. He strongly condemned government officials and assistants, such as Economy Minister Luis Caputo and presidential adviser Federico Sturzenegger.
Martínez stated that our group will express its rejection. Soon, deputies from other political factions will come to realize that granting more authority to the current president is a mistake.
