On February 9, 2024, the Banco Nacional de Desenvolvimento Econômico e Social (BNDES), in partnership with the government of the state of Pará, enabled the contracting of R$ 140 million in credit for the tourism sector in Belém, Brazil.
The main beneficiaries of this credit are the hotel, bar, and restaurant segments.
This recent development came after the approval of a financing of R$ 3 billion by the bank for a multi-sector investment plan aimed at improving urban infrastructure and expanding access to public equipment and services in the metropolitan region of Belém.
The approved funding encompasses cultural and touristic facilities as well.
In another initiative, the BNDES also approved R$ 40 million to restore the Conjunto dos Mercedários, a cultural venue that could be utilized during the COP30.
