Brazil’s economy minister, Guilherme Melo, said that his ministry is set to revise its growth forecast for 2023, noting that growth prospects have increased “significantly” since the beginning of the year.
The government’s new forecast for GDP growth this year is likely to be between 2.5% and 3%, Mello said, up from its current forecast of 1.91%.
Brazil recorded its highest ever trade surplus for the month of June, driven by a larger decline in imports than exports.
The trade surplus was $10.6 billion during the month, beating the median forecast of a surplus of $9.9 billion.
It was the highest surplus for the period since the chain began in 1989, according to Brazil’s Ministry of Development, Industry, Trade, and Services.
