Brazil is looking forward to accelerating investment in highways and railways to promote public and private sector participation.
The announcement of five highway concessions, including a total of 60 billion reais ($12.76 billion), will be announced in the second half, while 14 billion reais of public funds will be allocated to the highway during this period.
“We are committed to making the country’s transportation safer, more efficient, and more sustainable. Every kilometer of road opened strengthens the economy, creates jobs and growth, connects people, and makes Brazil more competitive in the world,” Brazil’s Transport Minister Renan Filho said in a statement.
For railways, the federal government will publish details of a national plan to create opportunities for private actors and develop regulations to increase regulatory certainty.
“We will, once and for all, take the railway out of the ground and turn the country into a major railway construction site,” said Rail Transport Minister Leonardo Ribeiro.
