Dubai, UAE – Gulfood, the Middle East’s premier food exhibition, inaugurated its latest edition on Monday, February 19, with a special presentation by Brazilian Chef Baiocchi that emphasizes the Brazilian Halal Project.
This alliance, formed between the Arab-Brazilian Chamber of Commerce and ApexBrasil, the Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency, aims to strengthen the presence of Brazilian halal products in various markets.
The products, compliant with Islamic law, play an essential role in diversifying Brazil’s export offerings.
On Tuesday, February 20, Chef Baiocchi will host an open cooking class at the Future Plaza Hotel, an annex of Gulfood. The menu features starters, main dishes, and desserts—all prepared with traditional Brazilian flavors and halal ingredients, ensuring exclusion of pork and its derivatives.
The next day, Wednesday, February 21, Chef Baiocchi will collaborate with Chef Matheis Grossijean at FRNDS restaurant, serving traditional dishes reflecting Brazilian and United Arab Emirates cuisine, centered around halal ingredients. The “Gourmet Night” menu will be showcased, celebrating culinary artistry from both countries.
Thursday, February 22 marks the chef’s barbecue event at the Concord Hotel, attended by Arab and Brazilian guests. In a demonstration of cross-cultural exchange, the chef will prepare poultry dishes that underscore the Brazilian Animal Protein Association’s (ABPA) offerings.
Fernanda Baltazar, the international projects manager at the Arab-Brazilian Chamber of Commerce, underscores the objective to position Brazil as a robust supplier of halal products. Brazil is one of the largest providers of halal protein to the Gulf states, including the UAE, Kuwait, and Saudi Arabia, through leading brands in these regions.
“Our goal is to showcase the diversity of Brazil’s halal products to Arab companies, participants, and visitors at the exhibition,” Baltazar stated. “We want to illustrate that Brazil is a supplier not just of halal protein but also of other products. This project has momentum, and we have a clear vision for the halal sector, with dedicated efforts in progress.”
Gulfood is held annually in Dubai and is the region’s largest food and beverage exhibition, attracting visitors from the UAE, the wider Arab world, and South Asia. This year’s event concludes on Friday, February 23, with Brazilian companies participating in a pavilion organized by ApexBrasil.
