A total of 3,507 tons of duck meat were shipped, showing an increase of 18.9% compared to 2022.
The main importer of Brazilian duck meat was the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, which imported 986 tons last year, a decrease of 2% compared to the volume imported in 2022.
The United Arab Emirates imported 916 tons, which is 32% more than in 2022.
According to this sector, Qatar exported 422 tons, an increase of 38% compared to 2022. Mexico and Japan also imported more Brazilian duck meat in 2023.
The President of the Brazilian Animal Protein Association, Ricardo Santin, confirmed in a statement that Brazilian duck meat has been promoted internationally through the Brazilian Duck project, which is a partnership between the association and the Brazilian Agency for Promotion of Exports and Investments.
The growth in foreign sales of this sector, particularly high-value and premium products, has a direct impact on this plan.
As confirmed by Luis Rua, the Market Director at the Brazilian Union for Animal Protein, he stated that “the global promotion strategy for this Brazilian product will be strong in the year 2024, especially through activities at international exhibitions, especially in the Middle East, which is our main market. In February, we will be holding a tasting and marketing event for duck shawarma during the Gulfood exhibition, which is the largest food exhibition in the Middle East.”
