The number of Arab tourists who visited Brazil in 2023 has increased compared to 2022, but it is still less than the number witnessed in 2019. This is true for the total flow of tourists to Brazil.
According to data portal provided by the Federal Police, Ministry of Tourism, and the Brazilian Agency for International Tourism Promotion (Embratur), Morocco maintained its position as the country that sends the most tourists to Brazil among the Arab countries listed in the ranking (shown in the image above of passenger traffic at Guarulhos Airport in Sao Paulo).
In the year 2023, a total of 4,035 Moroccan tourists entered Brazil, where Morocco ranked 53rd on the list of countries sending tourists to Brazil. Other Arab countries that appear in the survey are Lebanon, which ranks 66th with a registered number of 2,404 tourists, Tunisia with 1,631 tourists (ranked 73rd), Saudi Arabia with 1,530 tourists (ranked 76th), Egypt with 1,460 tourists (ranked 78th), and Syria, which was ranked 86th with a total of 676 tourists.
These are the Arab countries that appear on the ranking list, and the data also includes two other categories for other countries and unspecified countries, which may include Arab tourists from other nationalities. For example, the number of tourists who visited Brazil in 2023 from other countries was 24,899 tourists, while the unspecified category was 67 tourists.
The figures related to tourists show that the number of Moroccans, Lebanese, Tunisians, Saudis, Syrians, and Egyptians who entered Brazil in 2023 is greater than the number that entered in 2022. However, this number is generally lower than the number of those registered in 2019, before the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The public data on tourism in Brazil reflects a similar situation. In 2023, the country received 5.9 million foreign tourists, marking an increase compared to the 3.6 million who visited in 2022.
However, this number is still low compared to the year 2019. Argentina and the United States were the largest sources of tourists in 2023, followed by Paraguay, Chile, Uruguay, France, Germany, Italy, Portugal, and the United Kingdom. The main means of access to Brazil was by air, followed by land and then sea.
