Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro said that the national currencies of BRICS group countries continue to gain ground in international trade, citing that the yuan leads a high percentage of transactions currently carried out in the global market.
“More and more the currencies of the BRICS group [Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa], including the yuan, are going to occupy a space; they already occupy it in world trade,” Maduro said during the broadcast of his weekly television program Con Maduro Más.
“A very high percentage of international trade is already paid in yuan; it is a strong currency,” the Venezuelan president said.
“This is because China is a power country in economic matters and, in addition, is projected as one of the strongest countries from a financial, industrial, and technological point of view,” he added.
