Chile’s GDP shrank 0.3% from the previous three-month period in the second quarter of 2023, according to data from the country’s central bank.
The world’s largest copper producer’s GDP also contracted by 1.1% year on year, according to the central bank.
Economists had a median forecast of a 1.4% fall, according to “Reuters”.
The contraction of the Chilean economy came with better figures than the market consensus of a contraction of 0.6% in a Reuters poll of economists.
