Wael Aboulmagd, Egypt’s ambassador to Brazil, said that a direct flight line between Cairo and Sao Paulo will be inaugurated in the next few weeks.
This came on the sidelines of the opening of the second edition of the Brazilian – global halal business forum, organized by the Arab-Brazilian Chamber of Commerce in cooperation with the Brazilian agency for export promotion and investment.
Abu Al-Majd added that the direct flight line will contribute significantly to enhancing trade, investment and tourist exchange between the two countries, and that Egypt has a lot of attractions for the Brazilian tourist, and the”length” of the flight between Egypt and Brazil was an obstacle to attracting tourists from Latin America, pointing out that the Brazilian tourist is interested in religious and cultural tourism, and young people in Brazil are interested in exploring history, especially in the East, and they have a passion to learn about Egyptian history.
He pointed out that the volume of trade exchange between Egypt and Brazil, although it is increasing to range from 2.5 to 3 billion dollars a year, but it does not reach the level of historical relations between the two peoples, as well as promising opportunities, stressing the need for Egypt to benefit from joining the Mercosur countries as well as the BRICS countries, which is a forum for cooperation, coordination and exchange of experiences at the highest level.
He also called for the Egyptian business community to pay attention to this promising Latin market, which has promising investment opportunities, especially in the sectors of industry, agriculture and production, as it is Egypt’s gateway to the Latin American market, pointing out that many Brazilian companies view Egypt as a gateway to the African market, and the need to raise the level of trade relations from a mere commercial exchange to the level of partnerships and investments that give added value, pointing out that Brazil is an open country with large Arab investments.
He stressed the importance of sending Egyptian trade missions to the Brazilian market to discover opportunities, in addition to participating in exhibitions and forums that allow Egyptian companies to get a closer look at the needs of the Brazilian market, stressing the readiness of the Egyptian embassy and the trade representative office in Sao Paulo to provide all aspects of support to Egyptian companies and provide them with the information and data they need as well as remove all obstacles they face.
Aboulmagd revealed that an Egyptian delegation from the Suez Canal Economic Zone will visit Brazil next month to review the most important opportunities, advantages and incentives it offers to encourage investment.
