Emirates has concluded an agreement with the company” Shell aviation ” to supply it with more than 300 thousand gallons of sustainable aviation fuel for use at the carrier’s headquarters in Dubai. Emirates is expected to receive the first shipment under the agreement before the end of this year, making it the first time this type of fuel has been pumped into the Dubai International Airport fuel system.
The agreement is the latest step taken by Emirates as part of its environmental strategy, which focuses on three areas: reducing emissions, responsible consumption, and preserving wildlife and habitats.
Under the agreement, Emirates will track sustainable fuel delivery and usage data through” Avelia Avelia”, one of the world’s first SAF solutions powered by blockchain technology.
Emirates will purchase sustainable fuels, through” Avilia”, in addition to the environmental characteristics associated with the fuel to help decarbonize emissions related to band 1, while Shell Corporate Travel will purchase the environmental features of Band 3 associated with the same fuel to help decarbonize. The agreement demonstrates how reservation and claims solutions can enable air carriers and companies to realize the environmental benefits of sustainable fuels.
