The US Energy Information Administration said on Wednesday that crude oil inventories in the United States rose, while gasoline and distillate inventories fell last week.
Crude inventories rose 3.6 million barrels last week to 421.9 million, compared with the expectations of analysts polled by Reuters for an increase of 1.8 million.
The Department said that oil inventories at the delivery center in Cushing, Oklahoma, increased by 1.9 million barrels last week.
It reported that the consumption of American refineries of crude increased by 164 thousand barrels per day last week.
Refinery operating rates (TADAWUL:2030) rose 0.9 percentage points last week.
The Department said gasoline inventories fell 1.5 million barrels to 223.5 million last week, compared with analysts ‘ forecasts in a Reuters poll for a rise of 0.6 million.
The Department’s data showed that inventories of distillates, which include diesel and heating oil, fell 1.4 million barrels over the past week to 111.3 million, while forecasts indicated a decrease of 1.2 million.
She explained that the US net imports of crude oil last week decreased by 385 thousand barrels per day.
