Vehicle exports from the Mexican automotive industry rose to nearly 1.83 million units, or more than 13%, in the first seven months of 2023, according to the Administrative Registry of the Light Vehicle Automotive Industry.
“In July 2023, 275,765 light vehicles were exported, and during the period January–July 2023, a total of 1,835,971 units were reported, a variation of 13.7% compared to the same period in 2022,” indicates the registry published by the National Institute of Statistics (Inegi).
The export of cars accelerated by 31.2% in July of this year, 2023, sending abroad 275,765 new cars, according to the official report.
The American firm “Ford” was the assembler with the highest export in the seventh month of the year, with 38,061 vehicles sold abroad, which represents 175% more than the year 2022 in the same month.
It is followed by the Japanese firm “Nissan”, with 33,958 exported cars, 125% more than in 2022.
During January–July 2023, 743,930 light vehicles were marketed in the domestic market.
In this same period, 2,186,985 units were produced in Mexico, an annual variation of 13.83% more than in 2022.
“Light trucks accounted for 76.3% of the total produced, while the rest corresponded to the manufacture of automobiles,” according to the Administrative Registry of the Light Vehicle Automotive Industry.
In July 2023, 110,843 units were sold in the domestic market, “which represents a variation of 32.6% compared to the same month of 2022,” indicates the Inegi.
In July, 294,350 new cars were produced, an increase of 13% compared to the 259,992 units produced in the same month of 2022.
The Japanese firm Nissan led with 47,764 armed cars, 103.2% more than in 2022.
In second place, the American firm “Ford” is placed with a production of 34,221 cars, 91.9% more than last year, and Honda with 15,489 cars, 47% more than in 2022.
Car exports contribute between 20 and 25% to the total sales of Mexican manufacturers, one of the engines of Latin America’s second-largest economy.
