There was little change in US stock indices at the end of Friday’s trading session, which came short due to a holiday in the country, amid low trading volumes and a state of anticipation, as investors are watching the start of the shopping season for signs of flexibility among consumers.
The S & P 500 closed little changed, while the Dow Jones index picked up slight gains, and the Nasdaq index fell slightly due to the weak performance of shares of major companies.
All three indices made weekly gains for the fourth time in a row.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 117.58 points, equivalent to 0.33% to 35390.61 points, the Standard & Poor’s 500 index closed up 2.72 points or 0.06% to 4559.34 points, and the Nasdaq Composite Index dropped 15 points or 0.11% to 14250.86 points.
