The Argentine economy Minister, Luis Caputo, claims that the government’s inability to pass their comprehensive “omnibus bill” reform package has no impact on the country’s economy program whatsoever.
The government of President Javier Milei faced a significant setback in Congress on Tuesday as their highly disputed deregulatory reform proposal was halted and sent back to the committee stage for revision. The fate of the bill remains uncertain.
In response to the news, Caputo stated during a TV interview on Wednesday that the government had devised an economic strategy, anticipating the bill would be rejected.
“The minister assured that the rejection of the omnibus bill will have no impact on our economic program or our determination to stabilize fiscal accounts. It does not pose a significant issue for us.”
