Peru’s Minister of Economy and Finance, Alex Contreras, claimed that his country has one of Latin America’s healthiest fiscal accounts.
“In fiscal matters, there is a reduction in the deficit. Peru is one of the countries that has the healthiest fiscal accounts in Latin America; for this year, we plan to close in a deficit of 2.4%,” Contreras said during his presentation to the Congress Economic Committee.
“In August, the deficit was at 2.6%, but the idea is that this is reduced in the 12-month indicator, considering that in the accumulated period of this year, from January to August, it was at -0.5%,” he added.
“We will be very careful so that it is a soft landing up to 2.4% of the projected fiscal deficit at the end of this year,” Contreras explained.
“With a public debt that will continue to be reduced. Peru’s debt is one of the lowest, and this will remain over time,” he said.
