The Advanced Technology Research Council, the leading entity responsible for enhancing the research and development system in Abu Dhabi and directing the strategic priorities for the field in the United Arab Emirates, announced the signing of a memorandum of understanding with the Office of Digital Administration and Government in the state of Sao Paulo, Brazil, on the sidelines of the World Government Summit 2024 in Dubai.
This cooperation aims to utilize the technical expertise of the council and its affiliated entities to integrate artificial intelligence technologies into the infrastructure and government services in Sao Paulo.
Under the agreement, the Sao Paulo government will explore ways to support the adoption of the Falcon Language Model and its various solutions, as well as encourage its use within the city’s digital system and promote its use by various institutions and companies to contribute to the development of open-source models.
This partnership represents an important step in adopting Falcon’s capabilities beyond the Middle East, paving the way for further international cooperation initiatives that will shape the future of technological innovation. Faisal Al Bannai, the Secretary-General of the Advanced Technology Research Council, stated that signing this agreement confirms the council’s commitment to building strong international partnerships in the field of artificial intelligence for the public good.
Kayo Mario Pays de Andrade, the Secretary of the State of Sao Paulo, expressed his pleasure in signing this innovative partnership with the Advanced Technology Research Council to employ advanced artificial intelligence models such as Falcon and integrate them into the technological infrastructure and government services of Sao Paulo, believing that their joint efforts will drive innovation and further development in this promising field.
Falcon is a large open-source language model developed by the Institute for Advanced Technology Innovation, the applied research arm of the Advanced Technology Research Council.
It should be noted that both the council and its marketing arm, Vincit & Win, launched the new AI71 company specializing in artificial intelligence in November 2023 with the aim of providing specialized artificial intelligence technologies to clients from both the public and private sectors worldwide, enabling them to have decentralized data ownership thanks to the various options offered by both the Institute for Advanced Technology Innovation and AI71 for deploying leading Falcon models.
