According to Mark Zuckerberg, the CEO of Meta, Threeds now has over 130 million monthly active users.
The text-based social communication application is considered one of the many new projects that emerged following Elon Musk’s acquisition of Twitter in 2022, now called X. It competes with several startups and open-source projects, including Blusky, Mastodon, and others.
Zuckerberg stated that the Threads application is continuously growing, although he mentioned that it launched before Meta was ready.
Mark Zuckerberg said, “Threads now has a large number of people actively using it compared to the number of people who actively used it during the initial launch. Therefore, I believe Threads is on the right path to achieving great success.”
Zuckerberg also praised the application in the third quarter of 2023, stating that he believes the app has a good opportunity to reach one billion users within a few years. At that time, Thredz had more than 100 million monthly active users.
Meta said that her suite of applications, including WhatsApp, Facebook, Instagram, and Messenger, were used by a total of 3.19 billion people daily in the fourth quarter of 2023, an increase from the 3.14 billion observed in the third quarter of 2023.
The monthly number of active users has reached 3.98 billion, an increase from the previous quarter’s 3.96 billion.
In the past few weeks, there have been several indications of an increase in the popularity of Thrdz. Appfigures, an app information provider, found that the Meta-owned app’s downloads tripled in December, making it the sixth most downloaded app of the month on both the Apple and Google app stores.
Thredz achieved a record-breaking launch, reaching 100 million registered users in the first five days since its release in July of last year. Although interest started to wane in the fall, it only regained growth after Meta promoted Thredz posts to Facebook users.
Zuckerberg’s comments are likely aimed at addressing the concerns that were raised during the decline of Threads. According to an external source, Threads has approximately 160 million users.
