UAE Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan announced the UAE’s contribution of USD 100 million to the loss and damage Fund during the first day of the 28th Session of the conference of the parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on climate change COP28.
“We congratulate all parties on the launch of the important loss and damage Fund to provide an effective response to the consequences of climate change, and we are pleased to announce the UAE’s contribution of 100 million dollars, and we call on all able countries to contribute to these efforts and devote the spirit of solidarity among people,” Abdullah bin Zayed said in a tweet on the X website.
It should be noted that Egypt hosted the 27th session of the conference of the parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on climate change (COP27), during the period from 6 to 18 November 2022 in Sharm el – Sheikh, which was an important opportunity to consider the effects of climate change in Africa, to implement the Paris Agreement 2015 and activate the recommendations of the Glasgow 2021 conference; and to mobilize collective action on adaptation measures and mitigation of the effects of climate change .
