The Brazilian Association of animal protein producers (ABPA) confirmed that the UAE ranked second among Brazilian poultry importers after China, which ranked first.
During a press conference held in Sao Paulo to discuss the sector’s performance this year and growth prospects for next year, the association pointed to an increase of 6.8% in total poultry exports to reach 4.6 million tons this year.
According to the association’s data, China topped the list of Brazilian poultry importers due to its purchases rising by 28% to reach 632,200 tons since 2022. The UAE ranked second with 396 thousand tons, followed by Saudi Arabia with 337,400 tons.
The Brazilian animal protein Association released performance data for the eggs and other birds sector, as the UAE, Qatar and Saudi Arabia recorded an increase in duck imports from Brazil. The Arab-Brazilian Chamber of Commerce announced forecasts for the steady growth of Brazilian poultry exports during 2024, coinciding with the growth of the poultry production sector by 3.7% in Brazil to reach 15.3 million tons.
Brazilian poultry exports to Arab countries are expected to continue to perform strongly next year, with the addition of several new markets.
Osmar shehfa, president of the Arab-Brazilian Chamber of Commerce, said: “We have achieved a remarkable achievement by maintaining a positive trade balance with the Arab market, which accounts for 32% of Brazilian exports . This is the result of the establishment of strong trade partnerships based on mutual benefit and cooperation between Brazil and the Arab world,”he said.
