Sheikh Shakhbut bin Nahyan Al Nahyan, UAE Minister of State, announced that his country will provide a new financial grant in the field of Health worth 200 million US dollars, with the aim of improving the health conditions of young people in Africa.
This came during his participation in the session “investing in health for today and tomorrow”, within the activities of the cop28 Conference of the parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on climate change, currently held at Expo City Dubai.
The UAE’s investments contribute to building stronger and more resilient health systems to face climate change and to provide outstanding health services to young people on the continent, as this support enhances the potential of African youth to build a better future for their communities and countries.
In a keynote speech during the event, Sheikh Shakhbut bin Nahyan said that investing in youth will unlock the potential of millions in Africa and guarantee them a prosperous future, as people under the age of twenty – five make up more than 60% of the population in Africa.
The future of the continent depends on the quality health and education services and skills learning that young people receive, “he said.
This initiative reflects the UAE’s appreciation of the importance and urgent need to invest in the health of Africa’s youth in order to enhance opportunities for Prosperity and growth, and within the framework of the permanent partnership between the UAE and the African continent and its commitment to support the efforts of the continent’s countries in achieving sustainable development.
