According to information released by the Brazilian Animal Protein Association (ABPA) on Thursday, February 8th, exports of chicken meat to the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia in January witnessed growth compared to the same period last year.
However, total foreign sales in this period were lower in terms of volume and value compared to January 2023.
According to data from the ABPA, Japan was the main importer of Brazilian chicken meat in January, with exports reaching 40.1 thousand tons, an increase of 6.4% compared to January 2023.
The second-largest importer was the United Arab Emirates, which imported 38.7 thousand tons, a 7.5% increase compared to January 2023.
China came in as the third-largest importer, with imports totaling 38.4 thousand tons, a decrease of 36.2% compared to January 2023.
Saudi Arabia ranked fourth, expanding its purchases by 7.9%, with a total of 34.9 thousand tons.
In a statement released by the ABPA, Luis Rua, the Markets Director at ABPA, emphasized that despite the current challenging situation near the Red Sea, Middle Eastern countries are still performing well, with significant increases in imports.
According to ABPA figures, total exports amounted to 404.9 thousand tons, a 3.8% decrease in export volume in January, with shipments valued at 683.6 million US dollars, a decline of 20.2% compared to January 2023.
