In 2023, Tocumen International Airport broke its record for passenger traffic by handling 17,825,465 passengers, surpassing the previous high of 16,582,601 passengers in 2019.
Raffoul Arab, manager of Tocumen International airport, stated that the success in 2023 can be attributed to the trust of airlines, which have increased their flights and destinations due to the support and guarantees of safe and punctual operations provided by the airport. These factors enhance Panama’s reputation as a key transit hub for both passengers and cargo in the region.
During December, a total of 1,606,558 passengers were taken to the local terminal.
In December, the regions that had the highest volume of trade passing through the Panama hub were South America at 44%, followed by North America at 30%, the Caribbean at 11%, Central America at 11%, and European markets at 4%.
By the end of 2023, there are a total of 31 airlines operating at Tocumen International Airport, with 15 for cargo and 16 for passenger services.
