The president of the Federation of UAE banks, Abdulaziz Al Ghurair, said on Monday, in front of the United Nations climate change conference “cop28”, that the UAE banks have allocated a trillion dirhams, or about 200 billion dollars for green financing.
The announcement, made on the financing day of the conference in Dubai, adds to a growing list of pledges on everything from building renewable energy to helping farmers improve soil quality.
“At this pivotal moment, I am honored to announce a historic commitment to achieve the UAE’s ambition, as the banking services of the Union of UAE banks and national banks have collectively pledged to allocate more than a trillion dirhams,”Al Ghurair said.
