Khalid Ali Al Bustani, Director General of the federal tax authority in the UAE, revealed that the number of electronic transactions carried out related to tax refunds for tourists in the country has reached 15.43 million transactions since the introduction of the system almost five years ago until September 2023.
Khalid Ali Al Bustani said on Thursday that the number of transactions carried out to refund the tax to tourists exceeded 3.44 million transactions during the first nine months of this year, according to the Emirates news agency “WAM”.
The gardener explained that the” self-service devices ” for tax refunds to tourists in the country increased to 87 devices, compared to 81 devices in September 2022.
The number of outlets registered with the authority associated with the digital tax refund system for tourists exceeded 15,880 stores until September 2023, compared to 14,750 stores until September 2022.
Al Bustani said that the total number of applications approved by the authority to recover VAT paid for the construction of newly constructed housing for citizens amounted to 21,947 completed applications until last September with a total value of about 1.8 billion dirhams since the start of the application in 2018 until September 2023.
