Unifrutti Group, a preeminent global producer and distributor of fresh fruit, announced the strategic acquisition of 100% ownership in Bomarea and the Peruvian operations of AvoAmerica (AvoAmerica Peru). This acquisition expands Unifrutti’s presence in Peru and strategically bolsters its multi-fruit portfolio with the inclusion of premium blueberries and avocados.
Solum Partners, a U.S.-based agribusiness investment firm, and Alpine Fresh, a U.S.-based fresh fruit and vegetables company, are the divesting parties in this transaction.
Enhancing Customer Value and Meeting Market Demands
This acquisition aligns with Unifrutti’s core mission of delivering a consistent and secure supply of premium produce to its global customer base. The addition of Bomarea and AvoAmerica Peru underscores Unifrutti’s commitment to fulfilling consumer demand for healthy and nutritious products.
Boasting a combined area of nearly 2,000 hectares, both Bomarea and AvoAmerica Peru are recognized leaders in the production of premium blueberries and avocados, respectively. This strategic acquisition positions Unifrutti to effectively meet the growing global demand for these sought-after superfruits. Furthermore, it strengthens Unifrutti’s access to key markets such as the United States and China.
The acquired entities will continue to benefit from established commercial partnerships, including ongoing collaborations with Alpine Fresh and Westfalia Fruit.
Aligning with Growth Strategy
Mohamed Elsarky, Chief Executive Officer of Unifrutti Group, emphasized the significance of this acquisition: “The integration of Bomarea and AvoAmerica Peru into Unifrutti represents a significant stride forward. Not only does it broaden our product portfolio, but it also enhances our ability to deliver exceptional customer service. Blueberries and avocados are among the world’s most desired and rapidly growing superfruits. The addition of these companies perfectly aligns with our commitment to providing our global customers with superior-quality fruits. This acquisition, along with the recent acquisition of Verfrut, marks the initial phase of our ambitious plan to establish Unifrutti as a leading global force in the sustainable multi-fruit market.”
The completion of this acquisition is subject to the satisfaction of customary closing conditions.
