The US House of Representatives passed Saturday, a temporary package to fund the federal government for 45 days to avoid the imminent government shutdown, the bill is scheduled to go to the US Senate for passage before sending the bill to President Joe Biden for ratification, avoiding a shutdown.
The Senate must debate and pass the bill before midnight on Saturday to avoid a government shutdown, and the bill must receive two-thirds of the votes in the house to pass.
The funding bill includes 16 billion dollars for disaster relief, but omits aid to Ukraine, which was a major sticking point in that crisis.
House Speaker Kevin McCarthy said in remarks to MSNBC on the air as he left the House chamber: “I have a good feeling . The government will remain open and will continue to struggle to secure our borders,”he said.
Republicans in the US House of Representatives on Saturday pushed a last-minute proposal to extend government funding for 45 days to avoid an imminent government shutdown, which will lead to blocking the work of federal agencies after the end of their funding, if Congress does not pass the temporary funding bill before midnight on Saturday.
The bill will allow to extend the work of the federal government for 45 days, that is, until November 17, avoiding what could be the fourth government shutdown in the last decade.
The House of Representatives passed the bill by 335 votes to 91 against. 126 Republicans and 209 Democrats voted in favor of the bill.
