The Venezuelan deputy oil minister announced that his country currently produces about 850 thousand barrels per day of oil, and hopes to soon reach one million barrels per day, after the US sanctions are temporarily eased.
Venezuela is also seeking to diversify its sources of energy income, he said, by starting natural gas exports to the Caribbean nation of Trinidad and Tobago.
Eric Perez, speaking at an energy conference in Caracas, said that Venezuela has developed a multi-stage plan for the recovery of the oil sector, which has been severely affected by the economic and political crisis and international sanctions.
