Numerous news reports revealed that the encrypted instant messaging platform “WhatsApp”, will add an” additional security ” service to user accounts, by verifying using email.
The update of the “WhatsApp beta” version about the addition of the platform shows the possibility of verifying their accounts, using their personal emails.
This update will be applied to a limited number of users, before it finds its way to the public version of “WhatsApp”.
The “WhatsApp” application currently allows users to log in to their accounts by entering the phone number and receiving a one-time password (OTP), and this is useful when the user is traveling and does not have an international mobile roaming plan. However, users will still need to provide a phone number to start using the service.
And in the “WhatsApp beta”for iOS 2.23.23.77 and” WhatsApp beta ” for Android 2.23.24.10 (via the feature tracker WABetaInfo), the messaging service operated by Meta allows users to enter and verify their email address, as an alternative way to log into their own account. Users are also informed that their email will remain private and will not be shown to other users.
To add e-mail to the user’s “WhatsApp” account, you can open the “WhatsApp” settings menu and click on the account, then the e-mail address.
After entering the e-mail address, verification of the e-mail address is required to confirm that it belongs to the user.
There were early reports regarding email verification, indicating that the “WhatsApp” team has been working on the email verification system since August, and the new verification method aims to apply another layer of security to user accounts, which will make hacking accounts more difficult.
And although the rollout is very limited at the moment, the verification system is expected to reach all users sooner rather than later.
